Our Mission

Making a difference

St. Philip’s Episcopal School (SPES) is grounded in the expression of Christianity and operates within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church. SPES nurtures spiritual growth, exploration, and discovery of self; promotes service and responsibility to others; and provides strong 2K-5th Grade academic programs for motivated and able students of diverse races, creeds, and economic backgrounds, utilizing innovative resources to teach the best of traditional curriculum.

Why St. Philip's?

1. Education is not just about academics, but also emotional intelligence, artistic expression, and social growth. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry, not just rote learning or test scores

2, Chapel and Religion Classes - St. Philip's School is committed to working hand in hand with St. Philip's Episcopal Church to provide our students with an excellent, well-rounded environment, shaping mind, body, and spirit.

3. A Climate That Supports Achievement - Our program has resulted in continued academic success for students after they leave St. Philip's. Many of our alumni send their children, grandchildren, and other family members to St. Philip's, creating a long legacy of love and learning.

4. Exceptional Enrichment Programs - Outstanding offerings such as library, physical education, music, Spanish, and STEAM which includes coding and robotics give our students a more well-rounded education.

5. The SPES Family - St. Philip's has built a true community - a place where our families feel they belong.  We believe each student is a gift, and we strive to provide the best environment and unparalleled education program in the Uvalde area.

Preparing students with faith and a complete foundation of learning is the greatest gift we can give them. It provides for the next generation and is our greatest opportunity for a healthy society. With discernment, a holistic perspective, the wisdom from past generations, and adaptability, students are equipped to engage in the world with knowledge and compassion, standing confidently against the unknown.
